The second Superhero to hit the Bollywood scene , Drona , is all set to please the audience after the very successful Krrish . The first trailer of the film , which has been into making since a long time , is out now and the rushes look just usual . The film has been Directed by Goldie Behl who is husband of Sonali Bendre and this is his biggest project . The film starrs Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead . Priyanka probably has a thing for superheroes and she would be the only common thing between them . I hope we get to see a combined version of Krrish Vs. Drona fighting it out for Piggy Chops (Priyanka Chopra) . lol .
Anyways the trailer starts off with a Blue Petal flying into the windows of some apartment (poor graphics there , in terms of international standards) and then there is a dark locality shown which continues in the trailer for some time . Then we get to see Abhishek getting trapped between some Demons made of sand and a line like this goes – ” When the survival of mankind will hang in the balance one man will rise and realise his destiny ” . There is also a dark look of the Bad Guy which is played by Kay Kay in the starting of the trailer . Then at the end of the trailer we get to see the real Drona in his outfit riding on a horse . The already fat Abhishek looks even more fat with the strangely made costume . This is supposed to be a Indian Superhero so probably he won’t wear the Nylon Skin-tight Suit . Instead he will wear a loose and fat looking Cotton Costume . Abhishek also carries a Sword which has some inscriptions on it and the sword is very much similar to the sword that his Dad AB Senior holds in the trailer of Talisman (CGI loaded next film of Amitabh based on Chandrakanta) .
Then at last the name of the film comes “Drona” in a golden colour font which is similar to the Font that was used in the title of Rangeela , the only difference being the colour . You might wonder what difference does the font make , but guys it does create an impression . The name of Krrish was presented in a never used before Font on screen and it looked great . Even the first Teaser of Krrish gave me Goosebumps to a little extent in the theater , this one didn’t even excite me visually .
Krrish didn’t work because of the special effects but it worked on the story and direction . This is one thing that Rakesh Roshan realised as a wise Director that he cannot spend a huge sum on VFX so he worked hard on the Story and background score . The background score that features in this trailer is very much Spiderman Superman type just with strange sounding Hindi lyrics . The background score that was used in this trailer was not at all good if you ask me . The Visual Effects also didn’t please me that were present in this trailer . The sand creatures have been already shown on-screen with utmost perfection in Mummy Returns and Spiderman 3. The effects that are used here are of much lower level than what was used in the hollywood flicks . So why use same sequences that require top notch VFX that any Indian film can’t afford and can’t produce on its own ? Do something original and which is within the reach of Indian Special effects company .
Overall , The trailer didn’t excite me at all and neither did Abhishek’s look . The trailer isn’t sufficient to create the interest amongst the audience , they might need something more . I hope the story and Direction are better than the first trailer of the film . The film set to release on October 2 . Check out the trailer :
Apparently it seems that u have watched whole movie in a trailer. we cant predict the fate of a movie until it is released and without knowing complete story. But as u r criticizing trailer it is the first and sounds technically stupendous.
As far as Krish is concerned, story of krish was ordinary in other words not verygood and it was a copy of dozens of hollywood superhero flicks. Every movie is inspired by another Especially superhero movies. The background score in Drona is very nice(Esp-The flute like sound).
U couldn’t say the director hasn’t worked hard, without listening music u cant criticize it.
Thanx “style” but the first trailer creates a big difference and as they say First Impression is the last impression . And the first impression wasn’t that good for me . The trailer might excite some people for sure but most of them are gonna criticize it . I have no where predicted the fate of the movie and I have just criticized the Trailer and the VFX that were visible .
Talking of Krrish , I know it was an ordinary story but still it had very less flaws in it , the screenplay was good and in most part of the film they didn’t try to impress people by VFX . I’ll give you the best example . One more movie called Superman Returns with top notch VFX released at the same time as Krrish did but it didn’t work because people didn’t like the story . It had a mammoth budget of 204 Million Dollars and Krrish was made in just 14-15 Million dollars .So it is clear that people just want a good story , VFX can just enhance that story . I’ll go further and say that if Rakesh would have had the budget of Hollywood limits he would have made Krrish a masterpiece .

Now here seems that u r biased towards krish not because it was a good movie but it was Rakesh’s movie as far as Drona is concerned u dont know the whole story and u didn’t even have listened its music and This Promo is just the first look to show technical effects that has been used in the movie and lot more promos and music is to come. Regarding first impression, the first impression of koi mil gaya was not good at all in everyones eye if u do think i m wrong in it than u r completly biased.
And one thing is that i m not biased or prejudiced i appreciate the efforts made by Rakesh roshan and we should appreciate the efforts made by Goldie behal. Because most of the movie having superheroes and technical effects r hits in hollywood and if Drona would become hit than ther r more chances u would see many more superheroes movie with bigger budgets and tech effects.
The first impression of Drona in ur opinion is not good but all of us whoever has watched this promo finds it impressive and as u have written Abhishek is fat in this promo i dont know which promo u have seen because in this promo only face is shown not complete body. and his costume design is based on type of role and also on his phisique.Everyone cant be lean like hritik roshan.

Dude , I think you didn’t get my point ..I’ve no where and I repeat No Where said that I don’t like the film etc. I’ve just reviewed the trailer not the film and once more where have I talked about the music ..I’ve just talked about the background music . Why are you getting so hyper on my review of the TRAILER not the film . I don’t think the trailer is Good . Read it again and point out where have I mentioned anything about the film apart from VFX . If you would point out correctly I would delete that portion for sure .
Now coming back to what you have said about Koi ..Mil Gaya . I don’t know if you have seen the Teaser Trailer of Koi..Mil Gaya or not but I’ll tell you it is one of the best Teaser trailers India has ever produced . Do you remember the teaser where a dark scene is shown and hrithik holding a Basket Ball with camera slowly panning from ground to sky and then showing the earth and then a spacecraft along with one of the best Trailer musics I’ve ever heard . The teaser had no dialogues and nothing ….just one look of hrithik and rest was special effects that were no where in the film . The Teaser of Koi..Mil Gaya was made apart from the film ..I mean it didn’t have scenes from the film . Now talking of Abhishek looking fat …yes he does look fat when he is riding that horse …take a closer look . You seem to be a very ardent fan of Abhishek defending his bad body . If he isn’t lean as Hrithik then who asked him to become a superhero . Are superheroes suppose to be fat and unfit ?
Last but not least Superman is such an iconic character that the film has to be hit even if it gets very bad reviews . The thing I wanted to highlight was that High budget and special effects don’t guarantee success . An if you call Superman a hit with a Budget : 270 Million $ and Box Office : 391 Million $ . Then what would you call Spiderman whose budget was mere 140 Million $ and it grossed about 840 Million $ ?
i can only say one thing that u must have reviewed the trailer but u sounded so negative that film would going to be flop in ur opinion. u have compared it with krish resembled with amitabh’s sword and to priynka u have kept common. i dont know what would its fate be but one thing is sure the background score is impressive and the tech effects r good as far as i havn’t wrote that big budgets & special effects r a guarantee for a hit but yes they add some curiosity and even some audiences to the film.(it was ur opinion that Rakesh would have made something else with big budget)

And yes i m a fan of Abhishek bachchan but not because he is successful but because he was a failure.And he is the only one who is unique in phisique and character isn’t he.n all other actors r stereotypes.

Go and read my review on music of Rock On , I’ve given it not so good rating and I have faced quite a backlash but that doesn’t mean that I’ll write keeping in mind that I don’t get bad comments .
And have I said something wrong in respect of Sword and Priyanka . And talking of comparisons to Krrish , they are bound to rise considering the superhero genre .
May be your definition of success means monetary success but in my view people who pay to see should be satisfied .

the music directors for this have been in the industry for over a decade, and doing big ad films, where the production standards r way higher than bollywood,

A wise man would never say another man an idiot without being acquainted, but a fool does. if u would have read the whole conversation above u would hv known that i was giving a general view, that music is nice n melodious or we can say a soothing music. as per indian standards the VFX are impressive n same u have said.
I was not criticizing or rating music i was just trying to say that one should not write or say malicious things or spread negative vibes about anything, because a partial knowledge is more dangerous than a empty mind.

why are you guys talking of the music even before it has been released …I feel the music that was in the trailer was too damn inspired from west , just some Hindi weird sounding lyrics have been put in.. that’s it …By music I meant music in the Trailer and not the Music of the Film in whole .

what do u mean too inspired from the west,there is nothing like indian orchestration, most of the indian stuff doesnt even qualify as a score,

basically bollywood has always flirted with the west and bastardised their style of music, film making, its very rare that a score is close to their sensibility .
there is nothing like inspired from the west, the concept of film score is a western concept, and u see chinese films or any other film, itll follow the same principles,
also idiots is refered to a lot of ppl writing reviews sayin the music directors for this r unknown and newbies, and its a big risk,
the thing is they dont do their research, and r not qualified to write.

Anyways , I agree completely with you that Krrish’s background score was a straight rip-off but you would have to agree on the point that it was still better than what is there in Drona Trailer . This is what my point that it doesn’t matter if you directly lift it off but some of the Music composer infuse certain Indian elements into it and spoil it completely and producing somethin that is Hybrid ….neither west nor east , somewhere in between . And this hybrid composition is what sounds pathetic . And I don’t think so that background score can’t be Indian and it has to be inspired a little from west . No , its not like that . The best example is that of Lagaan which had fabulous background score and it was completely Indian . No inspiration there .
One more thing , I know there has been a lot of good work that is done in Ad World but is unnoticed just because of the fact that it is of very short duration . Isn’t it ?
